Prostar D900F gaming laptop review
by Rei Ito
Prostar D900F is the world's first Intel Core i7 laptop computer. It comes with Nvidia GeForce GTX 285M 1GB GDDR3 Video Memory will provide unprecedented levels of 3D Graphics performance. 17” WUXGA LCD display will make your gaming experience more dynamic and realistic. Optional 3 hard drives will make the maximum storage of 1.8TB capacity. 12GB Maximum DDR3 1333MHz can handle all your needs for graphics and gaming.
Build & Design
Prostar D900F has a nice black design. Comparing to Prostar’s common gray color design, I will give it a 9 of 10 score. This system is quite heavy and large, it weighs in at 11.78 pounds and is about 2.35 inches thick. The build quality does is average. The material is basically plastic and metal. There is no new material for an advance notebook.
The hinge design for LCD is an A++. There are two long steel stripes connecting to LCD and LCD back case. This will spread the pressure each time the users open and close the lid. This new hinge design for LCD will make it survive for a long time.
The palm rest area is huge and comfortable. Prostar D900F is equipped with a Synaptics touch pad with a matte finish. It is easily to move cross, and sensitivity is excellent. I try it with a sweating finger, and the response is good. The touchpad button gives a gentle click with a good feedback. The touchpad looks very stylish.
Display
The 17-inch glossy 1920x1200 pixel display is the best I ever see. WUXGA is the highest resolution for notebook display. There is no light leakage, color reproduction is perfect, and view angles are superb. You can look from any direction you like and the picture is crystal clear. The high contrast and glass view makes colors pop off the screen. This LCD makes your gaming experience more realistic.
Input and output device
Prostar D900F has four speakers and perform surround sound effect. There are two on each side of the keyboard and two in the front of the notebook. The four speakers reproduce sound across all levels of the spectrum; high and low notes are accurately reproduced. Having four speakers does help boost music power and adds a nice surround touch.
On the right side of the notebook, there is 1 Kingston Lock port and 4 USB ports. On the left side of the notebook, there is also a HDMI-out , ESTA port, Firewire port, Express Card slot, LAN-port, card reader and optical drive. There are four jacks on the front of notebook: headphone jack, microphone jack, S/P DIF output jack and line-in jack. There is a DVI-port and a DC jack on the back.
The full numeric keypad on the keyboard is a must for accountants.
